Therapy Types

DBT

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) provides clients with new skills to manage painful emotions and decrease conflict in relationships. DBT specifically focuses on providing therapeutic skills in four key areas.


Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention to the present. This state is described as observing one’s thoughts and feelings without judging them as good or bad.

EDMR

EMDR is a psychotherapy technique designed to relieve the distress associated with disturbing memories. Short for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, it involves recalling a specific troublesome experience while following a side-to-side visual stimulus delivered by the therapist. 

CBT

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a short-term form of psychotherapy based on the idea that the way someone thinks and feels affects the way he or she behaves.

CPT

Cognitive processing therapy (CPT) is found to be effective for treating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) for people who have experienced violence, abuse, natural disasters, or other traumatic events. 

TFT

Thought field therapy (TFT) and emotional freedom technique (EFT) are specific energy psychology approaches used to treat anxiety and 

depression. In TFT, the patient is asked to invoke a “thought field” associated with depressed mood, a traumatic memory, or other principal symptom pattern.

Client Centered

Person-centered psychotherapy, also known as Rogerian therapy or client-based therapy, employs a non-authoritative approach that allows clients to take more of a lead in sessions such that, in the process, they discover their own solutions.

Family Systems

Family systems therapy is a form of psychotherapy that helps individuals resolve their problems in the context of their family units, where many problems are likely to begin.
